BRUSSELS, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- Ukraine will comply with the decision of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on its dispute with Russia on ammonium nitrate duties, but needs time, a WTO source told reporters on Monday following a meeting of the WTO Dispute Settlement Body.
“Ukraine made a statement declaring its intent to implement the WTO conclusions in its dispute with Russia over anti-dumping measures introduced on ammonium nitrate imports from Russia,” the source said, adding that Ukraine would need some time to implement it.
“Russia welcomed Ukraine’s statement and said it was ready to discuss the problem with Ukraine.”
Ukraine raised the duties to 36.03% from 11.91% in July 2014 for five years on request from local fertilizer producer Ostchem. The company said that prices for natural gas for Ukrainian chemical plants and for Russian producers differ greatly. Russia filed its suit to the WTO in May 2015 saying that Kiev’s duties violate the WTO anti-dumping agreement.
The WTO sided with Russia in September 2019.
